Welcome from Councillor Chris Townsley, Lord Mayor of Leeds

As Lord Mayor of Leeds, I am delighted to welcome you to the Opportunity China website.

The cities of Leeds and Hangzhou are committed to the flourishing sixteen year sister city partnership. This partnership has resulted in educational, economic, cultural and social projects for both cities, providing mutal benefit to our citizens. The partnership continues to be key to the success of Leeds in developing global citizens and a global economy.

Readers of Condé Nast’s The Traveller magazine (the UK’s leading independent travel guide) recently named Leeds as The UK’s Favourite City. Leeds also received the accolade as Britain’s Best City for Business by OMIS Research. The City of Leeds is therefore a fitting venue for Opportunity China, the largest Sino-British networking event ever to be held in the region. The spectacular venue of the Royal Armouries Museum provides a stunning backdrop for the carefully targeted business meetings and seminars which will take place on both days.

I wish Opportunity China every success in creating sustainable business opportunities between the two cities.
